H2 - High-Rise Power
The central theme for this project set in Hamburg was the combination of a symbolic building with high affinity and the concept of building an energetically forward-looking house with a hybrid, urban use. The four partly perforated high-rise compounds were turned into double-H shapes by two horizontal bars with integrated wind turbines, making the project a clearly visible "Signature Building" for Hamburg.
The building H2 will not only be CO2 neutral but as a plus-energy-building will be producing more energy than it requires. This measure is intended to support Hamburg's competence being the European Environmental Capital 2011 in the use of renewables and energy-efficient building. The ensemble in the European Green Capital will possibly be one of the first plus-energy high-rise buildings worldwide.
