Low Energy Houses Haulander Weg
International Building Exhibition Hamburg

Interdisciplinary competition 2010

Task: Design of an energy self-sustaining housing development in the context of climate change management

Client: IBA_Hamburg GmbH, 1. Rank
The layout enframes the central landscape. It strengthens the typical landscape of the marshes and increases the retention area.

Along the IGS (International Garden Festival) promenade to the east tower-like piled up family homes and pontoon houses develop. The closed water circuit of the settlement becomes visible by the constructed wetland and the Water-Wind-Tower.

To the west housing clusters are located on dwelling mounds. To the south a closed row of multifunctional buildings  housing communal facilities develop. All components will be built according to passive house standards. An integrated and self-sustaining energy scheme characterizes the housing development.
